Meet Samantha Ruth // Lavender and Honey.

Well hey there friends! Today I thought I'd bring something different to the table, I've been following Samantha on Instagram and reading her blog Lavender and Honey for a while now; I've watched her grow, her blog become more and more popular, the beginning of her Youtube channel and her love for faith, fitness and fashion evolve. That's one of the most amazing things I have found about Instagram, it's so easy to watch people grow and follow their lives, see their friendships and happenings that you feel like you could really know them on a real level.

Samantha is a born and raised Las Vegas chick (jelous already?). The christian school she attended when she was growing up, was a place that greatly inspired her through her drama/arts director who really brought out the arty side in her - swelling her creativity and growing her love for art, music and fashion. She was inspired by none other than Zoe Sugg to start her own blog and more recently her YouTube channel, that will hopefully lead to a successful online career. (P.s. if you haven't already checked out her Youtube videos go do it, I already want to go over to her apartment for a cuppa!)

We figured we would keep things original and do a little Q&A for you lovely lot. I wrote Samantha some questions based on what I thought would allow us to get to know her a little more, so lets dig right in!

When did you begin to blog and why?
I began to blog back in April of 2014. I only really started because I knew Zoella from Youtube started her journey with a blog. I basically wanted to follow her footsteps so I started a blog with the intentions of one day progressing to Youtube. I started my blog as a hobby and a creative outlet and as the months and years went by, I realised that blogging, Instagram and Youtube became a passion of mine, mainly because I love all things fashion and beauty and this is the perfect way to express myself through all of these outlets.

What makes your blog different to all the other blogs out there?
I think what separates me and makes me unique from other bloggers is that I like to feature a lot of lower end items on my blog. I am not a wealthy person so when I am on the lookout for blogs, I look for blogs that feature drugstore makeup and clothing from lower end stores and that is something that you do not come across very often. I aim to attract girls who are like myself. Maybe they are going to school and working and cannot afford to buy expensive things and I want them to know that its okay and you don't always need expensive things.

How do you deal with writers block?
Writers block is something that I have been experiencing a lot of recently. Sometimes I feel like I can't express myself as well through writing as I do with just speaking so normally I will watch Youtube videos - always Zoella's because I gain a lot of inspiration from her! I also love to sit down and think of the kind of things I like to see, and try to mimic that but also think outside the box.

If you could describe your blog in five words what would they be?
I would describe my blog as simplistic, fun, honest, quirky and very white haha!

Whats your biggest dream for the future?
My lifelong dream is to one day be working from my blog while being a wife and a stay at home mom. That is why I love blogging so much, because I can have all of my dreams at once. I can have a career but be at home all day with my future children.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
If you couldn't tell already, it's Zoe Sugg a.k.a. Zoella. I'm a dedicated follower of her - she's stinking amazing! She's funny, quirky, loveable, fashionable and so kind. I watch her videos and just get so inspired.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to start a blog?
If you asked me this question I would tell you YES! I think even if you cannot make a career out of it, its still so much fun and a great way to get your creativity out. I would also tell you to start on Wordpress if you are able, because thats what most big bloggers use and its the mistake I made. I started on blogger but I want to switch to Wordpress and making that switch is overwhelming.

Any style advice?
Hmmm style advice.. My favourite! Well, My style is very plain but timeless. I love to have a lot of plain pieces in my wardrobe that I can pair with other pieces. I can't away from white, grey, black and stripes because they go with everything. I say the more plain pieces you have, the more variety you have because you can dress it up or down. I love to style my plain wardrobe with funky shoes, purses, jackets, cardigans and jewelry.

Whats the piece of clothing you couldn't live without?
Oh my goodness thats the hardest question ever! I have to say my sunflower stripes shirt (above) from Urban Outfitters. I don't wear it everyday because it would be too noticeable because its so unique but I would be sad and forever wanting it if I didn't have it in my wardrobe.

Any additional advice or comments?
My last piece of advice would be GO FOR IT. Whatever "it" is for you. Don't let comparison or pleasing people get in your way. Too many times I overthought starting a blog or Youtube because I was afraid I wasn't good enough or afraid of what others thought of me but blogging has made me so happy, so go for it!
