Curvy Chic Bridal : Local Business with Bootyful Meaning.

Theres something I love about a company that oozes self-love, fair treatment and encompasses a welcoming atmosphere. Not often you get it all. That was exactly what I got when I walked into Curvy Chic Bridal in Belfast - Northern Irelands very first bridal boutique for the bootyful bride.

Last week I spent a lovely evening at the store eating cupcakes, viewing a wedding makeup tutorial, taking a peek all of the new dresses in for the season, sipping on prosecco and chatting about how it all begun.

The lovely founder Rebecca, after hearing many plus-size brides' disheartening wedding dress stories (and having some of her own), wanted to be able to give these girls the experience they really truly deserve, just like any other woman! After all, size should never come into the equation or alter the experience.

Rebecca - a professional makeup artist by trade (she just did some of the Paris Fashion Week shows by the way, eek!) - has successfully self funded her own business, built it right off the ground and my favourite part? The boutique is in her home.
I couldn't help but feel so relaxed when I waked in, so different from my own experience wedding dress shopping early last year.  Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed hopping from shop to shop trying on dress after dress and finding the ONE, but there was just something about the atmosphere that Rebecca has been able to create that you just couldn't get in any bog-standard bridal boutique on the street.

What is most amazing is their rage of sizing. Their samples in store range from a size 16-32, whereas in most high street boutiques samples are stocked in sizes 10, 12, and 14 so for the curvier girl this can really dampen the whole experience! They also stock bridesmaids dresses from a slim 6 to a curvy 44, mother of the bride/groom dresses, bolero's, and some beautifully sparky additions for your dress (pictured above) all handmade by another local lass, Kitty Dickson at Kittys Jewels. They have literally thought of every little detail, so that the bride feels nothing but relaxed at and ease.

Every bride should leave a wedding dress shop feeling utterly amazing, and I really believe that Curvy Chic provide that for the curvier bride with thought, care and class.

Thanks for having me guys!

  4. Great blog. I was a curvy bride and luckily the bridal shop I chose were lovely and made me feel relaxed, I was so nervous about my size and trying dresses on. I know that other curvy ladies have had bad experiences though. It's lovely that this lady is doing things differently. X
